Season Opener, and Bandshell Dedication

The season opens with a special tribute to Arthur Sweet, Director of the Wheaton Municipal Band from 1945-1963, who was instrumental in the planning and building of the Memorial Park Bandshell. The concert music will replicate that first concert 50 years ago!

Back in the 30's Leroy Anderson began arranging and composign for Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops. Tonight's special program will celebrate the centennial of his birth, along with special memories and music from the Wheaton visits of other band icons, Frederick Fennell and William F. Ludwig, Jr,. and beloved Glenbard North High School band director William Schraft.

The Glen-Ellyn Wheaton Chorale, conducted by Greg Wheatley, joins the WMB for a Night on Broadway.

A hands on (literally!) interactive program designed and voted on and even performed by ourfavorite audience: YOU!!

And guess what? YOU doesn't stop with selecting the program. YOU will be playing with the band on the first half! WMB proudly invites ALL who have EVER played a band instrument to dust off those horns and join us for a portion of the first half of this concert. YOU'll be hearing about it all season, so start practicing, and get ready!!
