Wheaton Municipal Band

The level of excellence of a musical organizaton is developed by its own principal conductor. Bruce Moss, Music Director of the Wheaton Municipal Band since 1980, has won national recognition as an outstanding band director and inspirational music educator.

Dr. Moss received a Ph.D. in Music Education from The Ohio State University, and Bachelors and Masters degrees in music from the University of Illinois. He is currently Director of Bands at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, where he leads one of the nation's finest university band programs. He served in similar capacities at Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Illinois, and St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minnesota. He was for many years Music Department Chair and Director of Bands at York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois. University and high school ensembles under his direction have performed at both state and national conventions. Moss organized and conducted a professional wind ensemble for the College of DuPage, and has taught courses at Elmhurst college, University of Illinois, Ohio State University, and VanderCook College of Music. Dr. Moss was recently elected to membership in the prestigeous American Bandmasters Association, and holds memberships in numerous professional music organizatons.
