A community tradition since 1930

Pete Friedmann

Pete Friedmann is marking his 29th season as announcer for the Wheaton Municipal Band.  For his “day job,” Friedmann is an independent consultant in public relations, marketing and communications.  He previously held positions in public relations, government affairs, community relations and public policy advocacy communications with the American Medical Association, Baxter International Inc., the Illinois State Medical Society and the Alliance of American Insurers.  Friedmann began his career as a broadcast journalist at WJOL-AM/WLLI-FM in Joliet, Illinois.

Pete has also been the announcer for the Northwestern University “Wildcat” Marching Band since 1981 – longer than any other announcer in the band’s history and currently the third-longest running band announcer in the Big Ten Conference.  A graduate of Northwestern, he has long been active as a volunteer and leader in Northwestern alumni activities and was recognized with the prestigious Alumni Service Award by the Northwestern Alumni Association in 2005.

As announcer for the “Wildcat” Band, Friedmann has performed at every “home” game and concert appearance of the band for 29 seasons, at nearly every stadium in the Big Ten, on national television and at Disneyland, Disney World, the Rose Bowl, Citrus Bowl, Alamo Bowl and Sun Bowl.  He has also guest announced for the Bowling Green State University “Falcon” Marching Band for the band’s first appearance at The Ohio State University.
