Pete Friedmann

Pete Friedmann is marking his 32nd  season as announcer for the Wheaton Municipal Band. For his “day job,” Friedmann is a professional voice over artist and independent consultant in public relations, marketing and communications. He previously held positions in public relations, government affairs, community relations and public policy advocacy communications with the American Medical Association, Baxter International Inc., the Illinois State Medical Society and the Alliance of American Insurers. Friedmann began his career as a broadcast journalist at WJOL-AM/WLLI-FM in Joliet, Illinois.

Pete also has been the announcer for the Northwestern University “Wildcat” Marching Band since 1981 – longer than any other announcer in the band’s history and currently the third-longest running band announcer in the Big Ten Conference. In March, he served as arena announcer for all 11 games played in the 2013 Big Ten Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament, held at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, IL. Pete has been  the arena announcer for home games of Northwestern Women’s Basketball for two seasons, and in 2012 he announced for the opening round of the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, hosted by the defending national champion Wildcats in Evanston.  A graduate of Northwestern, he has long been active as a volunteer and leader in Northwestern alumni activities and was recognized with the prestigious Alumni Service Award by the Northwestern Alumni Association.

As announcer for the “Wildcat” Band, Friedmann has performed at every home game, pep rally and concert appearance of the band for 32 seasons, at nearly every stadium in the Big Ten, on national television and at Disneyland, Disney World, Universal Studios, the Rose Bowl, Citrus Bowl, Alamo Bowl, Sun Bowl, TicketCity Bowl (Cotton Bowl Stadium), Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas (Reliant Stadium), TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl, Soldier Field, Wrigley Field, Cleveland Municipal Stadium, and War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, AR. He also guest announced for the Bowling Green State University “Falcon” Marching Band for the band’s first appearance at The Ohio State University and is the announcer for conferences and formal events of the American Medical Association.
